Bel Home ..............................................................................................................................................
Getting off the main road from Madapur we climbed into the hills to Bellari Mote Estate. The road crossed a little bridge over the Bellari River and started to climb up the hill lined on both sides by coffee estates, then suddenly around a bend were revealed two quaint cottages of Bel Home. We were met with smiles by Vijay and Ramola our hosts.
The first thing that struck me was the simplicity. It wasn't the simplicity of just the family but also the place and surroundings. Bel Home has a two bedroom cottage that allows for privacy and yet keeps you connected to the family. The rooms are cosy and bathrooms spacious. Lunch is served on the porch so you can enjoy not only the flavours of the local cuisine (which is lip-smacking) but also the estate around you.
There is a lot to do here. Wake up to the chirping of birds and see how many you can spot. A river flows through the estate and you could have a picnic lunch beside it. Take a plantation tour and get to know what it takes to grow coffee. Spend time with Vijay and Ramola's family; they are really interesting people with lots of stories. Ask about the house as different sections of it have been built though the years. They are simple unassuming people.
You could also drive down to the little bridge for a swim.
It is all an excellent balance of nature, activity, rest, food and comfort and you'll want to keep coming back.
